How do we know what life was like in China throughout history? Written accounts and illustrations are useful, as are oral traditions. When exploring the lives of ancient peoples however, these resources are not always available. In these cases excavations become necessary.

Human remains, structures, bits of pottery or tools and other pieces of evidence help archaeologists figure out how people lived in ancient times.
